We are celebrating a decade of brilliance, dedication and downright awesomeness – it’s none other than the maestro himself, Matt Coggan, who has hit the sensational 10 year mark at Boxclever! Matt is a bit like the secret sauce in our success recipe, and we can’t thank him enough for being the legend he is at Boxclever. So, we cornered Matt for a quick chat and to ask him 10 questions about his remarkable journey with us!
1. What is your favourite memory at Boxclever?
There have been absolutely loads, but it might be a more recent one (and not just because my memory is shocking!). I have very fond memories of dancing under the stars with everyone at the end of the night at Boxfest. No one holding back, everyone totally comfortable with each other (judging by the dancing on show), smiles on our faces, having had a brilliant day of fun together.
2. How did you get into research?
By reading through the chunky job book you used to get as a graduate back in the day, and coming across a page that asked ‘are you interested in brands, in people, and what makes them tick?’ Yep! I’m in.
3. What’s your secret to staying motivated and engaged in your work for the last decade?
It’s not hard to stay motived when you’re surrounded by amazing researchers who are also brilliant people who you love spending time with. Our job is one of the best in the world, and I just love learning new stuff, which happens every day.
4.Can you tell us what you have learnt about yourself since being at Boxclever?
That I’m not very good at putting myself first, I’m too much of a perfectionist, but I’ve got better, slowly, over the years at finding the right balance. Still a work in progress though…
5. Are there any quirky or unique traditions at Boxclever that you love?
I love watching Karen get annoyed at the lack of understanding of the secret santa rules every year. I absolutely love reading the gazette our team produces; it always makes me laugh and also make me really proud and in constant admiration of the team we have here.
I might also add Sam’s dance moves here. Borderline criminal.
6. Where is your favourite place to go for lunch?
Riveresque for a tuna melt panini.
7. What’s your most embarrassing story whilst being at Boxclever?
Now that would be telling! You’ll have to catch me in the bar for those stories, I’m not incriminating myself in print. 😊
8. How do you think your colleagues would describe you?
Old. Tall. Nice. Maybe not the last one though.
9. If you could give your past self any advice on their first day of work at Boxclever, what would it be?
You’ve made the right decision – you’re in for one hell of a ride, so enjoy the journey!!
10. Favourite office snack?
Chocolate hob nobs that have been in the fridge for a while.
